Zengbu Gompa

Zengbu Gompa is the main Buddhist Monastery in the village of Seinthuk (Shergaon), which is located on a picturesque mountain surrounded by Oaks, Pines, Wild Persimmon, Local Sandal Wood and other indigenous Tress and plants which is around 3 KMS from the main village. The monastery is about approximately 400 years old and nimbly maintained by the locals since time immemorial. It is nestled within a forest that is widely protected by the locals. It houses the main deity of the village and it is believed that the monastery was built in and around 12-13th Century, but there is no written proof of it and the entire villagers carry any important work by first offering Serkim(Offering of Wine, Milk, Red Tea and Rice) in the name of Zengbu as it houses the main deity. Travellers visiting the monastery can light a Butter Lamp and incense in spiritual veneration and also pray for well being and success. It is also believed that anyone who visits Seinthuk, it becomes partial visit if they fail the visit this important Gompa.

Tashi Buyur Gompa popularly known as Old Lower Gompa is approximately 250+ years old and it is the place where every popular ritual was held including the council meetings but with the population explosion and space constraint the rituals including Kro Cheykor, Prewdo Chepi are now conducted in the Tashi Chering (New Lower Gompa) area. It is located in around 1-2 KMs from the main village and 200 to 500 meters from old village. One can visit and offer Serkim and Prayers for well being of family and world as well. One will find peace of mind when one visits the monastery.

Choskorong Water Fall is located in Choskorong Area deep in the jungle and to reach the fall one has to cover through Oakley Grooves. The beauty of the fall can be felt when one reaches the spot. During summers and autumn one can swim and bath in that area. During the winter one can reach the fall directly through the stream and if one feels to bath in 1 to 2 degrees of temperature one can certainly try.

The State Horticulture Farm which is located around 3 KMs from the village, which is around 120 Hectors in total area whereas the actual cultivated area 70 hectors. There are around 36+ varieties of Apples. They also grow William Pears, Sand Pears, Plum, Peach, Persimmon, Kiwis, Walnut, Cherry, etc. The main season for Apple is Mid August to First Week of September. So one can visit August and September to taste the varieties of Apples, Pears. Plum can be tasted in month of June-July. To get the feel of Spring one can visit the witness the bloom of all the plants from April to May. During the spring the beauty of the place is at its peak. This scenic farm ha also trout hatchery farm managed by State Fisheries department where one can see the varieties of Trout viz. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and also the local varieties of fishes.

Thungeey Gompa or Kamcho Yam (Mud Block House) is an important archaeological site which is within the woods located in a hillock which is around 3-4 kms from the village area towards Doimara road. To reach the spot one has to trek around 100-150 meters uphill. The remains has now only three walls which has been protected by villagers with the help of Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. One who has interest in research can surely try and excavate the remains and get the first hand report of the same. The place has got its own importance and the beauty of the place is a fact which one can enjoy and cherish upon.

The mountain in West Kro- This cave is a holy place for Sherdukpen community. The journey to “Kro" commences a day after Cheykor (probably June-July). The original name of kro is “Nehchin Dumbu Lahiri" meaning a pilgrimage place where the bear lives.(probably a dialect of Tawang).The Kro is believed to fulfill all the wishes of human beings viz. son, daughter, spouse,property etc. People visit Kro to fulfill their needs. Besides, Kro is a place from where offerings are made for the deceased souls. The way to the Kro also provides a nice trekking route that is filled with abundant amazing plants and birds for thrilling experience.

According to the sources, SEN-DZONG was a settlement area of ancient people. Later on Sherdukpen king Asu Gyoptang invaded this place after many days of war. Megalithic site in Shergaon known as Lungjhukthung and Sen-Dzong have both related in history of Sherdukpen king. Many remains of stones structures are being seen in Sen-Dzong too which tell us a story about group of skilled architectures.

The cold water trout fish hatchery was established in the year 1979. Trout fishes are found in cold and fresh water habitat. Trout are found in the Himalayan States and the Western Ghats of India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Sikkim, Tawang and in Shergaon. Trout breeding period is in the month of November and December. Fish pond comprises of 10 numbers of hatching box which has 5000 nos. egg holding capacity can be seen in site

Lhagyala Gonpu is one of the oldest monasteries in Asia which is located in West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. The monastery was constructed by Kachen Lama during the 7th century.
